Grand Teton National Park 2009

Spent a fun weekend in Jackson Hole, WY. It was the perfect time of the year to go...beautiful weather and not that crowded. This will probably be the last family trip for awhile, until after the new baby arrives.

California Vacation

We just got back from a week in California. It was a fun-filled week, and also tiring. We did the normal things...went to Disneyland, the beach, and Sea World. The good news is...it was a good time of the year to go, not too many people around and it was nice and cool. L.A. was an adventure, especially driving around in rush hour traffic... but we survived and we are glad to be back in Utah.

An "American Girl" Experience

During our California vacation, Rebecca got to go to the Los Angeles "American Girl" store. It was quite a place. Rebecca and her doll "Emily" got to have their pictures taken, their hair done, and enjoyed a fun lunch at the store.

Yellowstone 2008

We made our second trip to Yellowstone in September and had a wonderful time. It is one of our favorite places on earth. The Army had a family retreat and it was great to spend some time together as a family and not have to worry about work or the not-so-fun things of life :)





Wildlife at every turn!! Watch out for the Bison in the road.























This was one of the craziest climbs of our lives...over 300 stairs down into a canyon, but the waterfall view was breathtaking and worth the effort. Unfortunately, the climb back up was not so fun :)

Happy Birthday Rebecca!

Rebecca celebrated her 6th birthday in August. She decided to have an "Enchanted" cake and also had an Olympics game theme.

The funnest activity was "sponge racing" Each team had to race across the yard, fill up their sponge, and then race back and fill up their bowl. It was a hot day, so getting wet was no problem.

Our Family

Here we are... our Army Family! Larry, Jelka, and our daughter Rebecca. We are all excited to use this forum to share a little bit about our family. We never realized how much fun blogging can be, but so far we have enjoyed starting this blog for our friends and family.


We can't forget about our "other" child. This is Daisey. She is 4 years old and we found her at the local Humane Society in Manhattan, Kansas, shortly after Larry got back from Iraq in 2004. She is very spoiled and a great friend to our daughter Rebecca. Larry keeps trying to convince Jelka to get more pets, but so far no luck.


Rebecca loves to do many activities, but dance classes seem to be her favorite.








Larry is currently the Battalion XO for the Salt Lake City Recruiting Battalion. This has been a great experience, especially with Larry's parents living in Utah. Recruiting is nothing like we thought it would be and the hours are long, but we are so grateful to be close to family and together.
